Who was King David?

King David was the second king of Israel, known for being a great warrior and poet who united the tribes of Israel and made Jerusalem their capital. Famous for defeating the giant Goliath with a sling and stone, David is also remembered as a devout follower of God, often called "a man after God's own heart," though his reign also included significant personal and moral struggles. He is credited with writing many Psalms and his lineage is part of Jesus' bloodline. 

King David was likely born around 1040 B.C. and died around 970 B.C.
