Who was John?

Apostle John was one of Jesus's twelve apostles, the son of Zebedee, and the brother of James. He is traditionally identified as the author of the Gospel of John, three epistles, and the Book of Revelation. Initially called "Sons of Thunder" due to his fervent personality, John became known as the "Apostle of Love" for his emphasis on love in his writings and was a close disciple who witnessed many key events in Jesus's ministry. He was also the only apostle who remained with Jesus at the crucifixion.
