Who was Jael?

Jael was a woman in the Bible who, though married to a Kenite with an alliance to the Canaanite king, became a hero for the Israelites. She killed Sisera, the commander of the Canaanite army, by driving a tent peg through his temple while he was sleeping in her tent after the Israelites' victory. Her courageous act fulfilled a prophecy and secured 40 years of peace for Israel, leading the prophetess Deborah to praise her as "blessed above women". 

Sources cite that Jael lived during the 12th century B.C.
