Who was Joshua?

Joshua was Moses' assistant who succeeded him as the leader of the Israelites, leading them to conquer and settle the Promised Land of Canaan. The book of Joshua details this conquest, the subsequent division of the land among the twelve tribes, and Joshua's final exhortation to the people to remain faithful to God. Key events include leading the Israelites across the Jordan River and the famous battle of Jericho.

Biblical tradition places Joshua's birth around 1355 B.C. and his death at the age 110 in 1245 B.C.
