Who was Peter?

Peter was one of Jesus's twelve apostles, originally a fisherman named Simon, who became one of the most significant figures in the early Christian church. Known for his passionate and impulsive nature, he was a close follower of Jesus who was present at key events but also famously denied Jesus three times before being restored and becoming a bold preacher. He is famously known for cutting off a man's ear to defend Jesus. While preaching the gospel boldly during the period of the persecution of the early Christians, he was eventually martyred by crucifixion in Rome.
