Who was Queen Esther?
Queen Esther was a Jewish woman who became the queen of Persia and courageously saved her people from genocide. Orphaned and raised by her cousin Mordecai, she was chosen to be queen after the king deposed his previous wife. When the king's minister, Haman, plotted to annihilate the Jews, Esther risked her life by revealing her identity to the king, ultimately exposing Haman's plan and saving her people.
The events of the book of Esther took place between approximately 483 B.C. and 472 B.C.
