Who was Mary Magdalene?

Mary Magdalene was a devoted follower of Jesus and one of the most important figures in the Gospels. The canonical Gospels agree she was present at the crucifixion and burial, was one of the first to find the empty tomb, and was the first person to see the resurrected Christ. She is believed to have been freed from seven demons by Jesus and financially supported his ministry.
