Who was Rahab?

Rahab was a prostitute in Jericho who, based on her faith in God, hid two Israelite spies sent by Joshua. She lied to the king's men to protect the spies, and in return, they promised to spare her and her family when the Israelites conquered the city. Rahab's act of faith and obedience led to her and her family being saved, and she later married an Israelite named Salmon, becoming an ancestor of King David and Jesus.  

Rahab is estimated to have lived between 1426 B.C. and 1350 B.C.
