Who was Ruth?

Ruth was a virtuous Moabite woman who became the great-grandmother of King David, known for her profound loyalty to her Israelite mother-in-law, Naomi. After her husband died, she famously pledged to stay with Naomi, saying, "Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God". Her story, detailed in the biblical Book of Ruth, highlights themes of steadfast loyalty, faith, and kindness, as she moved to Bethlehem and married Boaz, a wealthy relative who redeemed her family. 

Ruth is estimated to have lived around 1100 B.C.
